The first phase of the 2025 European University Football Championships comes to an end: day 3

The third day of the championship before the rest day was decisive for the 2025 European University Football Championships.

The men's teams in Group A kicked off, with Ege University and the University of Munich drawing 0-0 at the University of Camerino grounds. In the same group, the University of Jyväskylä and the University of Camerino also faced each other, ending the match 3-0.

In Group B, the University of Porto took on the University of Montpellier at the San Severino ground, ending in a 2-1 win. Immediately afterwards, on the same pitch, the University of Fribourg was defeated by the University of Timisoara 0-4.

Moving on to Group C, the University of Rouen and the Polytechnic University of Turin drew 0-0 at the Matelica sports fields, while the University of Ostrava lost to the University of Granada by a score of 0-4. 

Finally, in Group D, the University of Pompeu Fabra and the University of Würzburg faced off, with the match ending 2-3 at the Castelraimondo sports field.

As for the women's competition, Group A saw the University of Uman take on the University of Lille, with the match ending in a 1-0 win. The day ended with the University of Würzburg beating the University of Camerino 9-1 in the same group; both matches were played at the municipal football ground in Camerino.

In Group B, the University of Frankfurt defeated the University of Gdansk 3-1, again in Camerino, followed by the University of Groningen and the University of Montpellier, which ended 1-4.

We conclude this report with Group C, where the University of Aveiro beat the University of Granada 2-1 at the UNICAM sports facilities.

Today marks the end of the first phase of the men's 11-a-side football competition. In Group A, the University of Jyväskylä and Ege University took first and second place, in Group B, the University of Porto and the University of Timisoara, in Group C, the University of Granada and the University of Rouen, and finally, in Group D, the University of Wurzburg and the University of Zagreb. 

Let's now review the rankings for groups A, B and C in the women's 7-a-side football competition. In Group A, the University of Würzburg and the University of Uman (Ukraine) took first and second place, while in Group B, the University of Frankfurt and the University of Montpellier lead the group; in Group C, the University of Aveiro and the University of Granada are in first and second place. 

These are the teams that will compete in the main draw, where the winners of both the men's and women's competitions will ultimately appear. 

The remaining men's teams will compete for ninth to fifteenth place in the consolation bracket, while the women's competition will decide the teams that will finish ninth to eleventh. 

Following the conclusion of the first phase, tomorrow will be a rest day for all teams and delegations.  The 2025 European University Football Championships will then continue with the final group stage matches, which will determine the winners of the entire tournament.
